Types of Massages

Massage therapy can provide anything from soothing relaxation to deeper therapy for specific problems. It can relieve your stress and anxiety, increase the nourishing blood supply to your tissues, enhance your energy and alertness, and aid in your recovery from pulled muscles or sprained ligaments. Massage releases muscle tension and discomfort, reduces mental fatigue, increases blood and lymph circulation, facilitates the elimination of toxins, and increases the functions of the body’s sensory receptors. Massage can also help with self-esteem and heighten awareness of your body.

SWEDISH MASSAGE
~ A relaxing full body massage with light to medium pressure. This is what many people think of when they think of massage. The whole body is addressed using long, gliding strokes with lotion, gentle kneading and compressive muscle manipulation techniques. The goal is to trigger the relaxation response and nurture the comfort of the moment by way of the interaction between the skin and the central nervous system.

by manipulating the deep tissues to correct muscle damage using very deep pressure,as well as targeting specific areas to fit your individual needs. The purpose is to "unstick" the fibers of a muscle while releasing deeply-held patterns of tension, removing toxins, while relaxing and soothing the muscle. It is both corrective and therapeutic.

SINUS RELIEF MASSAGE

A line of hot stones are then laid on the back, followed by a relaxing back massage. (This therapy is not recommended for persons taking anti-coagulant medications, or who have sensitive skin, allergies, Asthma)

REFLEXOLOGY
~ The ancient art of Chinese pressure point massage on the feet or hands. During this foot/hand massage deep pressure is applied to certain points on the foot/hand that correspond to organs and systems in the body. Hand and Foot reflexology aids to releive pain associated with migraine, sinus problems, breathing disorders, digestive problems, circulatory problems, back problems, tension, stress and for people who stand on their feet all day or just have tired, achy feet.

REIKI
~ a healing technique that originated in Tibet and has been practiced for over 2,500 years. Strictly speaking, Reiki means Universal Life Force Energy. It is one of the more widely known forms of healing through direct application of Chi.
In a Reiki healing session, the practitioner, trained to access and serve as a channel for the life force (ki or chi), places her hands on or just above the client’s body in order to activate healing energy within receptive points on the body. The practitioner’s hands move progressively with a passive touch through twelve positions on the body, remaining in each position for three to five minutes. As a harmonic flow of energy is strengthened, within the client and practitioner, healing occurs through the return of physical, mental, and spiritual balance. Client remains fully clothed.
